Business in 2017 is extremely dynamic and that means you need to keep up with emerging trends.  Digital marketing has emerged as one of the most essential tools in your arsenal to build your business and fuel growth.  It takes advantage of electronic media, the internet and social media to bring your brand in front of potential customers.  Here is a guide to digital marketing and how you can boost your performance, digital marketing 101 if you will.

Many businesses fail to appreciate the results of a digital marketing campaign and that is because they don’t understand how it works.  It is not like purchasing a radio commercial, it is not a onetime thing.  Digital marketing requires follow up and you need to view it as a long term strategy.  Posting a couple of pictures on Facebook or Instagram is not going to give you the results that you’re looking for.  Follow up is crucial, you need to remain consistent and the results will follow.

Marketing has changed and the days of traditional marketing are long past.  Today marketing company uses digital channels to let the public know all about your products and services.  So what digital marketing channels should you use?  Let’s have a look and see which ones work best for your business.

Social Media

This offers you the opportunity to build relationships with your customers and potential customers.  It has helped many organizations build their brands.  There are dozens of platforms to work with including Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin.  You need to choose the channel where your audience is most likely to be, for example millennials would be found on Snapchat or Instagram, and professionals would be more likely to be on Linkedin.

Email Marketing

This is cheap and easy to run and offers a great return on your investment.  You collect email addresses of potential and existing customers, you can collect them in your storefront or on your website.  You can them email your list on a regular basis with new products and offers.

Content Marketing

Content marketing is where you provide meaningful and useful content that drives potential customers into your store or onto your website.

SEO

When a potential customer does a search for a product or service that relates to your business, you want your business to be the first result that they see.  To achieve that elusive first place position is a great deal of work and a good digital marketing agency can help you do that.  Building the right links to your site, making sure that all the technical aspects of your website are working and inline with Google’s standards are some of the ways to get you there.

PPC

This is where you pay Google, by bidding on keywords, to have your website show up at the top of the search results page.  The plus side is you only pay for people that click through to your website.  The downside is that it can become very expensive and the moment you stop paying for ads your website disappears from the search results page.

These are just some of the digital marketing channels you can use to promote your business, you can take advantage of all or any combination of them.  Do some testing and see what works for your business.
